The re-admission of our planning application was submitted on the 4th of April and should be heard at the Planning Meeting on the 20th of June.
To accompany this application we had to complete two major pieces of work:
| |
1. |
A brochure clearly explaining the Academy project and the scale of the proposed buildings and car park. |
| |
2. |
Our School Travel Plan. |
Simultaneously, the DfES
have officially lodged our appeal against the first planning decision.
We hope that we will not have to go the whole way with this appeal as
we hope to be successful in June. However, should this not be the case,
we have been assured by the Government that they will pursue the appeal
route the whole way.
The Academy Action Group have been meeting regularly, and carrying out the following tasks:
- Discussions with parish councilors, the local vicar and members of the local communities.
- A letter answering many of the frequently asked questions about the Academy has been distributed to the parental community and the residents of Much Dewchurch.
- Canvassing
support; many letters of support have been received from local
colleges, prominent people and dignitaries who believe in what we are
doing here.
- An advert explaining about the school and the
potential of the Academy as well as the Open Day has been produced and
placed in Herefordshire Life magazine.
At
last week’s Project Steering Group (PSG) meeting we were advised to
call an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the school community to
get approval for changes to our Memorandum and Articles of Association
that are necessary in order for us to become an Academy. Once approval
is given, these changes then have to be approved by the Charities
Commission. We are trying to get all of this completed to coincide with
planning approval, and we will inform you of the date of the EGM as
soon as the changes have been formulated.
We will be inviting the newly elected councilors as well as local
parish councilors to the Open Day on May 19th. Any help on the day
would be greatly appreciated, not just for the Academy project but also
for the many families who would like to bring their children here. I
would also strongly recommend every family to come as it gives you the
opportunity to see what happens throughout the school. It is truly
inspiring to see the beauty that our children are creating at school.
Our Principal Designate also will be in attendance at the Open day day
so please take the opportunity to come along and say hello.
We need letter of support for the planning application. These letters
must bu with the planners by May 6th. You need to quote the school
address and the application number which is DCSW2007/1091/0. Letters
should be sent to:-
Mr. Mike Wilmont
Southern Division Planning Services
P.O. Box 230
Blue School House
Blue School Street
Hereford
HR1 2ZB
We have produced a petition form which will be circulated next week and
would ask that each family sign it as well as getting friends,
neighbours and family to sign it. We know from many comments from round
the county that many people unconnected with the school believe we
should have got permission. These should be returned to school by May
6th.
Many thanks to everyone who is working extra hard on these additional
projects as well as their normal work contributions to help the school
run smoothly. It is very much appreciated.
